When I reach for the Christmas presents under the tree this year, I'll be saving the smallest one for last in honor of David Eckstein...Only six major North American sports franchises have won a double digit number of World Championships-- the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs, the NBA's Boston Celtics and Minneapolis/Los Angeles Lakers, the NFL's Green Bay Packers, and baseball's New York Yankees. Friday night, the St. Louis Cardinals go for Championship #10.
