President Obama has taken George Bush's program of eliminating habeas corpus rights for both American citizens and foreigners by order of the Executive Branch, and he's expanded it now to include the ordering of assassinations. The linked article has to be read to be believed-- the President reserves the "right" to murder U.S. citizens, a death penalty imposed without due process, charges, trials, or even evidence of guilt, as the article's author Greenwald succinctly put it.We've got another sick fucking administration on our hands. Anybody that has harbored doubts over the last decade that the systematic erosion of our civil liberties would sink us to such a low-- and this quickly-- has some serious egg plastered on their face this week. It started with eavesdropping. What will be next?
