The Peabodys
Two of our favorite TV shows-- "Deadwood" and "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart"-- won Peabody Awards last week. The Peabodys recognize distinguished achievement in radio and television, and are administered by the faculty and students of the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia.Check out the complete list of this year's winners at this website. Also, if time permits, explore the list of past winners. "The Sopranos" won two consecutively in 1999 and 2000, and an often surprising list of other shows have won, from "The Office" (2003) to "The Bernie Mac Show" (2001) to "MTV Unplugged" (1994). There are also a whole slew of "Frontline" specials on the list.

They should change the title of "The Daily Show" to "Not Really That Funny New York Jews".
I think Jon Stewart might be overrated, but the show is not. I much prefer Bill Maher as a comedic political commentator. Stewart is a little too coy and precious sometimes. Stephen Colbert, Rob Corddry and Lewis Black are hilarious though. And the Daily Show book "America" that came out last year is the funniest book in the history of American literature.
